Partial Hospitalization and IOP Programs in Lancaster, PA
Recovery that sticks requires two things working together: quality clinical treatment and a stable, structured place to live while that treatment is happening. Most people in recovery get one or the other. PorchLight was built to deliver both.
Today, PorchLight provides DDAP-licensed, NARR Level III professional sober living for people currently enrolled in IOP and PHP programs at partner clinical facilities across Pennsylvania. We are also actively developing our own Intensive Outpatient and Partial Hospitalization Program, bringing clinical care and recovery housing fully under one roof right here in Lancaster.
What Is a Partial Hospitalization Program?
A Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) is one of the most intensive levels of outpatient addiction treatment available. Participants attend structured programming for several hours each day, typically five days a week, receiving individual therapy, group counseling, psychiatric evaluation, and psychoeducation. Unlike inpatient care, PHP does not require an overnight stay, making it practical for professionals who need serious clinical support without stepping fully away from their lives.
An Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) offers a similar clinical framework at a lower weekly hour commitment, typically 9 to 15 hours per week. IOP is often the natural step-down from PHP and a critical phase of treatment in its own right.
Who IOP and PHP Are For
PHP and IOP are appropriate for people who need more structured support than standard weekly therapy but who do not require 24-hour inpatient care. Common situations include:
- Transitioning from inpatient or residential treatment
- Stepping down from a higher level of care after stabilization
- Experiencing a relapse after a period of sobriety
- Managing a co-occurring mental health condition alongside addiction
- Needing intensive structure while maintaining professional responsibilities
Why Where You Live During IOP and PHP Matters
Clinical treatment addresses the psychological and behavioral dimensions of addiction. Sober living addresses the environmental ones. Research published by Mericle et al. (2022) found that people living in structured sober housing during outpatient treatment were twice as likely to complete treatment successfully and stayed in treatment an average of 66 days longer than those without stable housing.
That outcome gap is not a coincidence. When someone leaves treatment each day and returns to a chaotic, unsupportive, or trigger-filled environment, the clinical work is constantly being undermined. When they return to a structured, accountable, professional community, the clinical work compounds.
PorchLight exists at exactly that intersection. Our residents attend IOP and PHP at partner facilities during the day and return each evening to a DDAP-licensed, professionally managed recovery community that reinforces everything they’re working on in treatment.
PorchLight’s Integrated Vision
The future of addiction recovery for professionals is integrated care: clinical treatment and stable housing working together under one roof, designed specifically for the demands and realities of professional life. That is exactly what PorchLight is building.
Our own IOP/PHP program is currently in development. When it opens, PorchLight will offer a fully integrated model: evidence-based clinical programming combined with our professional-grade sober living campus in historic downtown Lancaster. Residents will receive coordinated care across both dimensions without ever leaving the PorchLight community.
If you are a professional looking for that integrated approach, or a case manager who wants to be informed when this program launches, we want to hear from you now.
