Financial Assistance for Sober Living in Pennsylvania

This page explains the grants and scholarships available in Lancaster County and Central Pennsylvania, who qualifies, and how to apply.
How Recovery House Scholarships Work
Recovery house scholarships and grants can help cover some or all of the cost of sober living for individuals who qualify. These programs are typically funded by county, state, or nonprofit organizations.
Important: Most grant applications must be completed by a licensed case manager or case worker—not by families or individuals directly. If you don’t currently have a case manager, we’ve included a list of providers below who can help.
Available Grants and Scholarships
Lancaster County SCA Recovery House Scholarship
The Lancaster County Drug & Alcohol Commission offers scholarships for residents seeking recovery housing in Lancaster County. This program is funded by Opioid Settlement grants.
CABHC Recovery House Scholarship Program
The Capital Area Behavioral Health Collaborative (CABHC) provides scholarships for individuals
stepping down from inpatient treatment who need financial assistance to enter a recovery house.
The Mighty Mehal Foundation
This Lancaster-based nonprofit awards recovery house scholarships monthly to individuals in
the Central Pennsylvania area.

Why Choose a DDAP-Licensed Recovery House?
When using financial assistance programs, it’s important to choose a state-licensed facility. Pennsylvania law requires that any state-funded facility making recovery house referrals must refer only to DDAP- licensed houses.
