PorchLight operates as a Level III supervised recovery residence, licensed by Pennsylvania’s Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs (DDAP) and held to the state’s recovery residence standards. In plain terms, that means certified staff and case managers on site, structured recovery programming, clear house expectations, and a professional peer community. We are not a peer-run house, and we are not a clinical treatment center. We are the stable, supportive home that protects the work you do in treatment and in early recovery, so it has room to take hold.

Sober Living That Works Alongside Treatment
Recovery that lasts usually takes two things working together: quality clinical treatment and a stable place to live while that treatment happens. Today, PorchLight provides DDAP-licensed, Level III sober living for people currently enrolled in IOP and PHP programs at partner clinical facilities across Pennsylvania. Our residents attend treatment during the day and come home each evening to a structured, professional community that reinforces it. Research published by Mericle and colleagues in 2022 found that people living in structured sober housing during outpatient treatment were roughly twice as likely to complete it, and stayed engaged about 66 days longer, than those without stable housing. We are also actively developing our own Intensive Outpatient and Partial Hospitalization Program to bring clinical care and recovery housing under one roof in Lancaster. Until that program is licensed, PorchLight remains a sober living residence and partners with trusted clinical providers for treatment.
