Men’s Sober Living in Lancaster, PA
The Cheshire Estate is PorchLight Recovery’s men’s sober living campus, a collection of four beautifully restored historic homes in the heart of Lancaster’s downtown historic district. It’s built for professional men who’ve completed treatment and are ready to recover with intention, community, and the accountability that makes long-term sobriety possible.
The Cheshire Estate is licensed by Pennsylvania’s Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs (DDAP) and certified by the National Alliance for Recovery Residences (NARR) at Level III.
That’s the highest level of supervised recovery housing available in Pennsylvania, backed by state law and mandatory annual inspections. It means every resident here is protected by more than a policy. They’re protected by statute.

The Cheshire Estate — Four Historic Homes, One Recovery Community
The estate is made up of four distinct homes, each with its own character and accommodation type. Together they serve a range of needs, from the structure of shared community living to the privacy of an executive suite.
The Hendel House — Main Shared Residence
The Hendel House is the primary shared residence at the Cheshire Estate and the center of daily community life on the men’s campus. It’s the right fit for men in recovery who thrive with proximity to peers, daily programming, and a structured environment.
- 8 bedrooms across the full estate, including 3 private suites and 3 private bedrooms
- Private bedrooms can be configured as single or double occupancy
- 6.5 bathrooms across the estate
- Shared and private accommodations available
The Lafayette — Executive Suite
The Lafayette takes its name from one of the most celebrated figures in American history: the Marquis de Lafayette, French hero of the American Revolution and trusted aide to George Washington. Lafayette fought at the Battle of Brandywine in Pennsylvania and helped secure the victory at Yorktown that ended the war. In 1825, nearly fifty years after the Revolution, he returned to America on a farewell tour of all 24 states. He was received as a hero at every stop, and his visit to Lancaster included three days of festivities, one of the most celebrated events in the city’s history. Streets, parks, and buildings across America still carry his name.
The Lafayette at PorchLight is our executive suite option for men who want the independence of private accommodations within the accountability of a DDAP-licensed community.
Vista del Campanario — Executive Suite
Vista del Campanario is a private executive suite on the Cheshire Estate. Its name speaks to the architectural heritage of Lancaster’s historic district, where colonial-era bell towers and steeples remain defining features of the skyline.
The GW House — Executive Suite
The GW House is the estate’s most private executive suite, named in honor of George Washington, whose connection to Lancaster runs deep. The city served as a strategic hub during the Revolutionary War, and Lancaster County men fought at Washington’s side at the battles of Trenton, Princeton, Brandywine, and Germantown. If you want to see what executive sober living looks like at PorchLight, this is the home to tour.
