How Recovery House Scholarships Work

It may be possible to cover a part or all of the sober living cost using recovery house scholarships and grants to people who meet the eligibility criteria. County, state or nonprofit organizations usually fund these programs.

Important: In the majority of cases, families and individuals cannot fill out grant applications directly but a licensed case manager or case worker can. In case you do not have a case manager at the moment, a list of providers is provided below.

Available Grants and Scholarships Lancaster County SCA Recovery House Scholarship

The Lancaster County drug and alcohol commission has scholarships available to thoseresidents of Lancaster County who need recovery houses. The Opioid Settlement grants are used to finance this program.

Eligibility

  • Applicant must be in recovery from opioid use disorder (documented by a DDAP-licensed treatment facility or professional)
  • Application must be completed by an SCA-contracted case manager

What It Covers

CABHC Recovery House Scholarship Program

The Capital Area Behavioral Health Collaborative (CABHC) has scholarships for people
vacating inpatient care in need of financial support to join a recovery house.

Eligibility

  • Resident of Cumberland, Dauphin, Lancaster, Lebanon, or Perry County
  • Must be coming directly from inpatient treatment or halfway house to sober living
  • Application must be completed by a case worker

  • Initial costs to move into a licensed recovery house

The Mighty Mehal Foundation

This Lancaster-based nonprofit awards recovery house scholarships monthly to individuals in
the Central Pennsylvania area.
